This is something I've had trouble explaining to my Dad, who was against me getting an SJ, due to parts cost, weight, reliability and the fact it wasn't a vauxhall (of which he has 4 Astra MK2s an '03 Omega and a 2010 Corsa 1.7TD), and actually bought a mk1 Corsa 1.0 12v three-pot in as gooder condition as my later SJ is now.
I eventually outright told him to sell it, having spoken to my Mum (parents are seperated and remarried so you know otherwise this won't make much sense) and she seemed more understanding. An SJ is a vehicle I can relate to, being not especially sporty or fit at 17 stone and being bigger than all my peers too. It's a tenacious old breed with personality and soul, much like old Landies, Rover P5s, VW Campers, 2CVs, Beetles, Minis, Mustangs etc.

Love 'em or hate 'em, you can't deny that they all have a unique charm to them.
