Anyone Know What A Single Wire Running Thru' Sill Could Be?

Post by SherwoodNash » Fri Nov 24, 2017 11:44 am

Just a quickie to save me investigation time...prior to coming MOT I'm repairing a hole in the drivers side inner body sill, which may need welding and can see a single wire in the void.

Anyone know what this is, and if it's factory or aftermarket?

Cheers!

Driver side there's normally 2 wires for the interior light up on the targa bar, sometimes in a cover though so might look like a single wire.

Passenger side its normally the handbrake warning light wire, should come out and run underneath the passenger seat over to the handbrake lever (if there's still a switch).

Cheers for the uber fast reply Scott, yes of course it has to be the handbrake warning light!

I just fitted a brand new switch in the summer, if anyone wants a good condition rubber boot let me know.

Mines on the drivers side 'spose as it's a van?

I might actually be getting confused as to which way around they are

Edit: Might just depend where they are built, the Spanish soft top I just built was handbrake warning light through the passenger side. Maybe it's the other way around on Jap built?

My Jap built tin-top has a wire on the driver's side for the handbrake warning light. Mine is switched ground. Ground the wire, if the handbrake light lights up, you know what it is. If something explodes, then it's not the handbrake warning light...
