Re: Jordis 1988 Samurai (Re)Build
It’s getting hold of them.
The same lad who did all the half decent work on my merc was supposed to make me a fuel tank and tray, now he has disappeared off the face of the earth.
It’s not gonna be load bearing and will be slightly narrower than the tyres so should be protected from trees.
Mitre joints and even my welding should be strong enough, it’s all held up so far.
Double check at work we still have an account at a local steel place I use, then I get 20% off.

Mind your face with those flappy disks, unless it's wire disks I'm thinking of? Looking forward to see the progress dude

It’s been a long time coming Tim, as you probably aware i’ve hmmmd and ahhhhd a lot about the fuel tank issue.timwilks13 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 06, 2018 9:01 pmMind your face with those flappy disks, unless it's wire disks I'm thinking of? Looking forward to see the progress dude
Made a start, original tank is totally knackered. Need to make progress now for, hopefully, a few good laning weekends this year.
Watch this space i guess. If i am home this weekend gonna make a few extra test cuts and joints for the tray back, see if i have worked out how to mark and cut the tube angles correctly.

Gonna give it a bash. I’ll cut the sheet to a slightly larger size, take it to be guillotine cut to the right size and nice and square, same place will fold it to shape and cut the end caps for me.
Then take it home and weld it up, in the past i have had some pretty tidy results welding up decent new 2mm sheet. I’ll give it a whirl, fill it with water and leave it to check for leaks. Hopefully nothing more than a few pin holes and if needed to give it a 100% seal a few mates have had good results with leaky or rusty internals by using (i think) epoxy tank lining stuff.

Re: Jordis 1988 Samurai (Re)Build
Sheet of steel arrvived this week. As did more tube.
Unexpected day off today so i cut the sheet and had it folded. Took the spare wheel and tyre and had them put together.
Then rested it all on the back of the Zuk and had a look at how i want it all to go together.
