what engine?

Post by blythy » Sat Sep 06, 2008 7:21 pm

i really want to go diesel with my sj in the near future, but what would be the one to go for? my best mates grandad owns a scrapyard so sourcing an engine isnt really a problem! i have an izuzu 1.5td nova engine in a shed,it was going to be a generator engine,or would the 1.7 be better?

i dont know what to go for!

1.5td izuzu
1.7td izuzu
1.9 pug turbo or NASP
1.9 vw turbo or NASP
there the most popular we get in there, but if theres any more i will consider.

which to go for,and why????

They reckon that the 1.9 pug is the best.
You can go fast, I can go ANYWHERE

Hi there,

Contact Rhino Ray or look on his website as he does adapter plates for some diesel engines and can sell you all the mounts etc that you need and give you the advice you won't find anywhere else.

If you want to fabricate everything yourself from scratch then obviosly ignore this advice but if you want to do the job with the least trouble, Rhino Ray must be the man to talk to.

Ah but how good are they when it comes to deep water? as you can't really beat a diesel when it comes to wading! I've yet to find many petrol engines are good underwater!

its perfect, so long as you dont stick the air intake underwater, and youve waterproofed the electrics. same as any engine really.

if it fails underwater, then somethings wrong...
