Hi All, I am new to the Club and have just purchased a 1991 samurai that has been sat in a barn for the last 10 years. Previous owner was a proper green laner and parked the samurai up when he left to live in Australia. It’s in pretty good condition, and has had over the spring lift on the front, Jimny coil spring rear, full exterior roll cage plus a load of things I haven’t a clue about! It’s in my tent shed now and I’ve put new callipers on the front, new extended brake hoses.renewed the tie rod end( bitch of a job to get the nut released! ) , cleaned and sanded back all the parts and painted them.
The body is surprisingly rust free except for the underside inner sills, need some plates, otherwise it’s fully under sealed and solid. I’ve cut the arches down, and given every nut and bolt a good dousing of penetrating oil.
Front shocks are shot, got those to get, stripped back brakes down and the callipers (Asin) are knackered and seized solid, so I need a new set of brake calipers( can’t seem to find any anywhere except India!). Need to get new rear shocks and the rear end is about 2” lower than the front. Any ideas?
I am hoping to have it on the road for the summer, going to US army olive green the body, and I have a stack of spares etc from a ww2 anus that I intend to fit, shovel, axe, Jerry can, spare wheel carrier, bumperettes, etc and adjust the Willy’s anus canvas to fit the sammy.
My friend spotted a samurai fitted with a vitara 1600 engine, but less the body as it has rotted and removed, so I have that to use for spares. This will be my first Suzuki rebuild, as I’ve usually just restored ww2 vehicles, but they are now far too expensive to buy and build, plus I suffer from PTSD from my military experiences and being locked up as we are now, has been very stressful and bad for my mental health, so I’m hoping that this project will benefit all round. Thanks for listening and any advice, etc will be much appreciated.

Re: Samurai rebuild project.
That looks like an ideal start for a rebuild! The stuff from India is for the Maruti over there...a Suzuki with another name basically so the calipers should be fine. You may want to fit the 1.6 lump if you intend to keep the cage and add all that other stuff. Good luck with it!
If it ticks over...leave it
