a quick question
i have a samurai but thats the only one ive ever been in, i dont know what the sj is like. How is its windscreen mounted, can you take off the frame like the samurai or is the roof and all built into the body?
i only see sj's on ebay at the moment.

All soft top SJs and Samuarai bodies are exactly the same except for the front grills so you can get a windscreen frame off any soft top!

The glass from a hardtop sj/samurai will also fit a soft top windscreen frame.

but the frame around the window in the hard top its built into the body is it?

am i correct is the samurai the soft top and the sj the hard top, i just assumed all samurais are soft tops since mine says samurai on the sides, although the log book has it down as sj. This confuses me. :S

A Samurai is actually an SJ413 Samurai. It's to do with the track and suspension. Samurai's (and Santana's) have the springs mounted differently to the chassis, and have longer axles and thus a wider track.

Soft top, hard top, metal top and van versions were available with any engine, Samurai or not. The bodywork is completely separate from the chassis and engine, which is what the '413 Samurai' is about, other than the grill and stickers.

Basically, the standard windscreen is the same in all SJs.
There's three ways of doing things:

The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.
