First MOT I took mine to it failed.

SJs don't have CATs as far as I know. Mine doesn't.

when mine went for a retest, they booked it at the end of the day, stuck the probe up the exhaust and left me to fiddle with the carb for 5 minutes 'til I got the emissions down.
There's three ways of doing things:

The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.

After a k plate 1992 SJ's/ samurai need a cat...

I'd take it for a long drive and turn up at the mot station just in time to drive straight on the test ramp... A cold engine bellows emissions, but it shouldn't need an emissions check..

Only the injection models have a cat as far as I'm aware.

My 1993 Samurai (L reg) doesn't have a cat, but my mates M reg injection Samurai did...

as said only late injection models have a cat, there is no emissions data for sjs from the factory so they just have to meet the CO 3.5% limit and that should be easy to meet with an sj
