was bored in my maths lesson today and was thinking like if you could make your own 4x4 what chassis would you base it on axles, engine ,suspension etc
remember this is just imagination
ill start it off
BODY: would have to be suzuki sj sammy , tubed front wings , tray back , half doors , 4 inch body lift
ENGINE: probably v8 chipped, re mapped ecu, mod fuel pump ,mega squirt, straight through exhaust with cherry bomb back box , side exit of course
GEARBOXES: nt sure , automatic though ,twin transfer box change to lower gearing
BRAKES AND STEERING , x eng brake , fiddle brakes , and of course hydro steer
WHEELS TYRES AXLES , for wheels probably be mach 5's,beadlockers , probably something like 40inch boggers , with toyota axles all trail gear uprates ;)or unimog axles , both axles with arb air lockers
SUSPENSION: would be 4 link coil set up of some sort
WINCHES: would be two warns 8274 one on the back one on the front with all twin motors etc synthetic ropes , one x9 superwinch for the centre
THE OTHER BITS: bucket seats, 5 point omp harnesses , lots of dials and lights , on board computer , arb compressor ,waffleboards,
just for a bit of fun remember the sky is the limit for budget and hight
dream 4x4

Love Paul's SJ it's well good
When I was following him around core he can crawl up, over or through pretty much anything there, stuff I have to get a run up to get up

Re: dream 4x4
I love my SJ. I'd like something bigger, but Land Rovers and Fronteras handle like boats whereas SJs are fantastic to drive. I've driven my friends's pre-facelift MKIV Fiesta and even that doesn't handle as nicely as my truck. It might go around bends faster if pushed, but there's no feel to the steering or the pedals and it has a really harsh ride, as does another friend's 58 plate Corsa. Also, as I'm not big into offroading, I wouldn't want to mess with the handling that way either.
I suppose, if money was no object, I'd have:
Standard LWB SJ samurai chassis, suspension, steering and drive-train (gearbox through to axles). I just love the way these trucks handle too much to change anything.
Dropside pickup rear with an LJ 2 door cab.
For the engine either a 1.3 16V DOHC or 1.6 16V SOHC Swift engines would be nice. Pokey, not too techincal in the electro-compu-bollocks department, but still economical.
I'd go with the standard steel rims I've already got. Tyres, probably Avon Ranger ATs. Standard front discs and rear drums setup, though with brembo pads on the front. No brake servo.
Artistically, I'd want the truck Suzuki logo red on the outside, but the inside of the dropside bed to be white along with the headlight surrounds, white front arch flares and white rear arches under the bed. Black bumpers, black bullbar, black rock sliders. Suzuki written across the tailgate in white. For the interior a two tone black and white interior; i.e. any metalwork is white, everything else is black.
I'd also rig up a simple surround sound system in the cab with two speakers in the dash, two behind the seats and a sub at the back between the seats. preferably driven by a hidden amplifier system under the dash with a 3.5mm audio jack input so that the original radio could remain in place to keep the thing looking retro.
Did I miss anything? uhhhh.........

There's three ways of doing things:
The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.

Re: dream 4x4
Space frame chassis with either lj or sj body comp cut
A bit like this sorta thing
2.0 Suzuki engine or 2.5 v6 with megasquirt
Vitara gearbox
Dual tcases (same as I have)
Spider 9 axles (realistically is have built and shaved yota lj70 axles as I can't afford spider9s)
37" krawlers
Inverted 4link front & rear
Full hydro steering
14" bypass coilovers all round
Extra set of 14" bypass shocks on rear
Air bumpstops all round
mid mounted vector winch, twin motor 8274
Think that's a brief spec
