Newbie over in Dublin
Hi, a quick search tells me this is the forum I need for all things SJ413.
Well its been an impulsive day. From viewing and test driving my first SJ (or anything like it), to realising it is not MOT (DOE across the pond) exempt, to having said test carried out, to sorting the cash, to organising classic insurance, to getting the train to pick it up, to my first motorway drive, to taking photos, to exhausting my ebay muscle and finally to joining a forum, its been quite a whirlwind!
Not quite sure how I got here in this funny samurai world, but looking forward to seeing how it will work out. i think I'm drawn to the sammy cause it reminds me of the military stylings of the old G-Wagens which I sure as hell could not afford to run right now. So I got myself a nice looking tintop (down with the lingo already ) Hopefully I can add a photo. Shes in pretty good nic, I cant find any rust really and even though there is 160K miles on the non-working clock, I'm told it was stored for 15 years. Did surprisingly well in the test with just rear bushings needing replacing and front bearings to be tightened as well as speedo cable and reverse light to be sorted.
I dont want to litter my intro message with a load of questions that belong elsewhere but I would be grateful if anybody could tell me whether door handles are interchangeable with rear tailgate handle as its broken and the only one I can find is in Aus whereas door handles seem to be common enough. Also where are the best online uk stores?
Anyway a few bits on this newly painted truck and she'll be right as rain, if a little stock for my liking. Not prepared to invest much right away though, for now wondering if a cheap small steering wheel will do her justice? (I'm 6'2" so somethins gotta give). Are wheel spacers a safe and cheap option for getting just a little more stability. Overall I found the drive a little rough but the low tech spartan feel is new for me compared to my other rides. This article http://suzukiclubuk.co.uk/Article.php?ID=2" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; freaked me out at first but was later more of a help to realise it wasnt just my new truck. Slightly disappointed with top speed and fuel consumption especially, but overall she did so well to almost pass her first test in her 26 years that its gotta be a good sign!

That has to be one of the tidiest van backs I have seen in a long time
Everyone who owns an sj knows that they aren't the most comfortable vehicles however they'll all probably agree that they are one of the most fun both on and off road despite the fact they aren't that fast.
Any questions just ask, our members are always happy to help

Hi and welcome to the forum!
Nice to see someone who has taken the time to write an in-depth introduction!!!
Love the zook as well, looks like an absolute minter!!!
I would say wheel spacers are a great option if you want to increase your track width! I've had the cheapy ebay ones on mine for years and not had any problems...
Some of my mates have got a crapload of handles around, I will enquire for you!

That's a awesome looking truck! Nice one. What wheels are those from, and what Tyres are you running?
There's three ways of doing things:
The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.
