You need to know more than the ohm reading, you need the correct current value too! If you used a little resistor like in electronics or on printed circuit board it would just cook it!

I cannot find any info on the ballast resistor as suzuki don't sell it as an individual part
How ever I read the normal drop is from 12v to 9v and the standard resistance is 1.6 ohms on most vehicles using points.
I have read up on the lj80 and this uses an almost identical coil and the resistor is 1.5 ohms.
Sorry I cannot say for sure what resistor you need.

Just buy a whole new coil, no point just replacing the ballast resistor IMO.

Im with the buy a new coil too. They tend to work hand in glove these things with regards to life cycles. Once one goes, you replace that and the other one goes! Thats my experience anyway

i got a new coil with the ballast resistor attatched yesterday, and it's doing the exact same thing! maybe its the wiring? the black/green wire goes to the starter, but when i replaced the starter maybe i got it wrong? and help would be much appreciated!

Can you post up some pics of the coil and starter wiring.
There should be a black w/green tracer and a black w/yellow tracer going to the starter, I'm wondering if you have wired it up slightly wrong.

I've revised my diagram to show all wires. I believe the black/green wire that goes to the starter fits on the starters main supply from the solenoid. The black/yellow goes onto the solenoid. I don't understand why there are 2 wires from the starter as both seem to supply 12v to the ignition coil when starting. Once it's started though the coil supply is from the black/white wire from the ignition switch. Does anyone know for sure where the black/green is connected at the starter

hi, ive wired up the new coil with the black/green wire but at the starter motor end it is disconected and im not realy sure where it goes. could anyone tell me where abouts to connect it or maby even a picture?

would it work better with the green/black wire just connected to the main 12v supply to the starter like on the diagram?

I don't own a 410 myself... but is there any reason why it's wired up like that?
My Samurai starter motors (and most others I've encountered) have a big chunky wire from Battery +
... and a small thin wire that eventually goes to the key start position, via the dashboard battery light
Is there any reason why that wire really needs to be there?
