I've been building a bit of a cafe racer for a friend out of a kawasaki GT750 so thought is post a few pics.

Gt750 you say? Is it shaft drive? My friend had a 550 which was & he couldn't get on with it, he told me it had too many cylinders for a bike! In fairness I've always thought the gr range was a bit bread & butter, not very exciting but does a job....

But now you won't catch me riding a bike! Bloody death traps!

GT550 and GT750 4 cylinder four stroke were a dispatch riders dream.. steady-plodders that would do a million miles.
Suzuki GT750 water bottle/two stroke was a totally different bike.
I've been riding bikes for 34 years and not dead yet.

Yes its shaft drive, I'm just building it as he wants it, if it was me id be doing it differently.

I know my gt Suzuki from my gt kawasaki one of my friends had a Gt250 b and my other had an x7, I just wasn't sure if the gt 750 was different to the 550 (like the gpz range 305 having belt drive and the rest having chain)

Well done for not dieing yet, I managed 6 years before my crippling accident, luckily I'm ok now but I like being able to walk and I'm not willing to risk another 2 years of my life for the good feeling you get when riding a bike. I still have 2 bikes but I'm strictly on 4 wheels now, well maybe 3 if I find a Morgan 3 wheeler at the right price! I certainly hope nothing bad happen to you, but statistically your more likely to have serious accident when your on a bike.

I've just re-read this & it sounds harsher then I meant, I don't want to sound holier that thou and any one is entitled to make up their own minds about bikes, in my case it took a nasty accident for me to see the negatives, if I hadn't have had an accident I'm sure I would be still really into bikes & I'd probably disagree with this post!

Sorry to hear of your bad accident but glad to hear you are well now..
Sometimes I find it hard to put into text what I want to say and I found nothing harsh in your reply... Sometimes stuff happens which we have no control over like my friend who rode bikes for years with no problems,then a new girlfriend came along who did not do bikes at all,she convinced him to get a car... One bad accident,a week in a coma and permanent brain damage was the result.. Who knows what's in store for any of us..Live life as fully as you can and take care of yourself ,your friends and your family,that's all we can do?

Thanks, yeah sometimes its hard to express yourself when your talking through text & I'd hate something to be taken out of context. Your quite right you never know what tomorrow will hold, so why not do something you enjoy? I miss riding bikes, I miss the surge when you accelerate past a car or when you line up a set of corners just right & you can weave through them without changing the throttle at all! I miss the 2 stroke smell & laughing at car drivers when they are stuck in traffic! But to me its just not worth it any more, sometimes it takes an incident to realise what's important. I know i'd have never given up bikes if it wasn't for my accident, maybe it was a warning for me, who knows? But everyone has to make their own descions, and now we are talking about bikes & you seem to appreciate the beat of the 70's & 80's what bikes have you got? I had 5 at my peak my biggest being a rd350 ypvs f2 which was brilliant, mostly I liked my tidlers!

Only one bike at a time for me,currently a zx12r..But when the lottery ticket comes in I'll be looking for a GT380 a KH250 and a Z650.
Oh, and bring back 2 strokes to motogp.
