Ifor top for pick up conversion
Now that my SJ is in working order , I've started making plans for this year.
I'm planning a pick up conversion, I know a swb SJ wont be big, but I love how they look.
I'm planning to make a van style bulk head to go behind the seats, as I need mine back quite far.
But for the bed I was thinking about fitting an Ifor style top, as one was never made for the SJ are there any other firms that do one that's a close fit.
Or am I best off getting the smallest Ifor I can (probably of a 90 pick-up) and cutting it down to size , or am I just crazy for wanting one.

Mk1 vw caddy had ifor type tops that are quite small.
Probably not tall enough though? Just an idea

Re: Ifor top for pick up conversion
I've been looking on other forums and all over the web, and can't seem to find anyone else who's fitted an ifor style canopy.
As they're aluminium I'm guessing if I cut one down to size it'll have to be TIG welded, and I've only got a MIG. So I'm thinking of maybe making my own from scratch to my own design.
I'll start drawing up some CAD drawings (I'm a AutoCAD draughtsman so it shouldn't take me too long) and let you know how I get on. When I eventually make a start, I'll put it all in a build thread.

Re: Ifor top for pick up conversion
I was thinking of something a little lower, about in line with the roof, although as mines a soft top, it'll be fitted a little lower than that.ferris wrote:One of our members who joined a few weeks ago had a ifor williams canopy on the back of his drop side. Re: Ifor top for pick up conversion
Found out today that ifor williams make canopy's for john deere's, and kubota's so they might be a close fit.
Didn't get a chance to do any CAD drawings today, too busy at work, but I've done a few quick concept drawings on paint.
I'm not as good on Paint as I am with CAD, so don't take this as a final draft.
