Post by joseph » Wed Jan 21, 2009 9:37 pm

Hi every one and have a great new year forget the ups and downs just take your tea flask and go for a drive in your good old SJ there great for feeling alive  , Now I have a SJ 413, 1324cc year 1988 and the alternator is the normal one fitted as standerd I think about 35A ok as standard but these days a bit of a joke I need to fit one about 80-100 amps have you any ideas of one that will fit in same place? This SJ is a one off, as I brought it a year ago now from Dublin where it was locket up for the past 17 years so its only got 36K on the clock, so you see its like finding pure gold…… sorry if I’ve been going on……

hi, don't know of a bigger alternator that'll fit in original place, but on a previous sj i had i fitted a 2nd alternator to assist with charging 2 batteries for using winch. this was easy to do using simple mount bracket and adding another pulley to crank pulley. then its just a case of running a power feed, earth and seperate waring light.
if u are anywhere near brighton i might still have the bits at the back of the shed.
hope this helps.

Kev
