oily air box + engine troubles
oily air box + engine troubles
hello,
ive been having a bit of trouble with my engine recently, first the engine tried to jump out (in the middle of no where) and took out the radiator on its way .
i bolted the engine mount back on although it could still do with new rubbers.
but anyway, my new problem is i have found lots of congealed oil in the air box, its obviously come down the breather pipe but why? half way down the breather pipe there is a T peice with a blocked off hose, does anyone know where this hose should go, if its even ment to be there?
thanks
joe

Re: oily air box + engine troubles
the pipe with the T piece should go from the rocker to the airbox and then the T should go to the PCV valve on the inlet manifold.
The oil is proabably related to that if it's not connected to the PCV valve
as for the engine mount they are £40+ from suzuki but I have some spares if you need one, you can have it for £39.99 nah make me an offer
just found this image and as it happens their pcv valve was blocked off

Re: oily air box + engine troubles
thanks for the help guys,
thats where my problem lies then, do you think there is any reason why this would be blocked off? is there a risk that re connecting it might create another problem?
thanks again

Re: oily air box + engine troubles
Just make sure the pcv valve is working, pop it out and give it a shake it should rattle, if not give it a soak in some petrol to clean it, and no it is needed so should be connected up.
Re: oily air box + engine troubles
the only thing i can see that looks like a valve is this
any chance it is this thing and should it be screwed in all the way?
cheers again

Re: oily air box + engine troubles
it probably is, i dont really know what im looking at tbh, if there was a valve its probably been blocked off with a bolt, should it have been on the side of the carb or the top?rgonzobull wrote:Isnt that the mixture tamper proof "not" screw?
Re: oily air box + engine troubles
The pcv valve is on the inlet manifold not the carb.

Re: oily air box + engine troubles
this is my modified manifold but shows where the PCV valve should be screwed in.
