How's this for a Samurai recovery!

Post by Highlander » Tue Feb 28, 2012 10:16 am

Went along to Drumclog at the weekend, had a great day offroad but late in the afternoon my clutch started to go, followed almost straight away by a total brake failure (suspect master cylinder)

Didn't manage to get far on the clutch before it went completely and I was stranded with no clutch and no brakes..

Was in a valley area with hills all round and as it had been raining constantly up here for days the ground was just bog.

Most of the 4x4's Landrovers, Jeeps, Suzuki's etc had enough trouble getting themselves out never mind trying to tow me out, plus the lack of brakes and clutch would make going downhill fun :D

So called the farmer and he arrived within ten minutes in a big tractor.

and got stuck! :D

So he called another farmer, who turned up in an even bigger tractor...

and got stuck! :D

So they called another farmer who arrived in one of the biggest tractors I've ever seen!!

His was fitted with the proper balloon floatation tyres for wet ground..

He NEARLY got stuck too! but managed to get everyone out in the end :D

Thing is, if my clutch hadn't failed I'd have gotten out easily on my own :D
