Hello,
ive started mounting my rear winch, im seriously considering buying some synthetic rope to replace the current wire rope, mainly cos it just seems a way better option, keep the weight down and just ease of use.
does any one else use synthetic rope?

Re: winch rope
its a 1200lb winch, the stickers have come off so i dont know what make it is, looks like one on the cheaper ones, but it works perfect. the old man bought it as a bumper and winch package for his disco, of cousre i sold the bumper and kept the winch, which is now mounted in the rear chassis.
the add says the rope good up to 13000lb, which is more than the winch can pull.

Re: winch rope
Main reason i asked was because of the brake on the winch
sounds like it is a traditional winch where the brake is in the drum.
Just have to watch out as if you are lowering out on the winch the brake heats up and can melt the rope
for light use you might be fine, and lets face it a suzuki is not exactly heavy but even so
Looks like a decent price though, the fair leads can be £40 on their own

Re: winch rope
yea ive read that about the heat,
it says its now fitted with 3m of heat proof sleeve round the drum, probably for that reason lol. its not like ill be using it that much, but then again i dont really know what ill get up to. i think ill buy it when i get paid so ill see.
it just a normal 12v electric winch, like you get on ebay. came as combo with a bumper
