Re: Was the SJ413 Rare
I'd say yes, but no rarer than Japan import 410s at a guess.
There's three ways of doing things:
The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.

Re: Was the SJ413 Rare
Yes & no, in the UK 413's were only sold for 4 years,
A little history for you, 410s were available from 1982 right through to 1990 (8 years) although the first 413 rolled off the production line in 1984 but wasn't available in the UK until 1986. The 413 & 410 were both available until 1990 when the range was replaced by the samurai. The samurai was on sale until 1996 so 6 years, the 413's lost lots of sales due to Americas DMV Report about the 'suzuki roll over' later it was found that the report was biased & the test was unfair but the damage was done, although the samurai corrected some of the 'issues' it was never as popular as it once was. I have no idea how many SJ's were sold but i imagine most were 410's, with samurais in the middle and 413's last. The rare ones in the UK are the pre 86 413's as they are generally dutch imports.
And ive not covered the change from jap to Spanish SJ's

Re: Was the SJ413 Rare
Thanks I did most of it off the top of my head, I've just had a look in my 'enthusiasts companion' - (god im a geek) and an interesting point to know is that from 1987 all the 410's were santanas which means all 413's are Japanese. Also I need to say it wasn't the DMV Report it was on for the American magazine 'consumers union' which was then. parroted in the UK's 'which?' Where they tried to have the sale of new SJ's stopped. After this article in 1988 all SJ's came with a '4x4 On Road Driving Booklet' I think I still have mine! Also if you have a samurai it should be Spanish too. Of course everything I'm saying will be general as a lot of trucks have been modified & changed

Re: Was the SJ413 Rare
Some sort of europen directive that said if you want to sell a car in the EU at least 60% of production needs to be in a EU country , so Suzuki bought a 20% share of the santana motors factory and made the 410 santana there, and later the samurai, in 1991 they bought an extra 29% to take there share to 49% then in 1995 Suzuki sold their shares as the samurai came to the end of its life
