Re: Starting/ warming up
Although in the pic it's a custom manifold... seems to run slightly better than with the adapter, but theres not much in it I don't think
I got mine from rhino ray but rockwatt makes them as well.

Re: Starting/ warming up
My Samurai is a great starter, it fires up as soon as you turn the ignition key. It has an automatic choke but this seems to stay on for too long, revving the engine unnecessarily and wasting fuel. Can this be adjusted? The service book only gives info on the manual choke.
Re: Starting/ warming up
My Samurai is very reliable and used everyday, BUT, when starting it fires but then will cut out unless I rev the engine to catch it running, after that no problems with engine running. I have a strange problem when the engine starts to warm up, it is sometimes ok and ticks over normally but other times will rev away on a high tickover wasting fuel, this fault is intermittent and if I leave the car for a while then use it again it will behave normally. I have auto choke and fuel injection so would expect this to be reliable. At least it always gets me where I want to go.
Re: Starting/ warming up
i have an sj410 and like yours, i have to use the choke to get her warmed up, then after about 5 - 10 mins i can let the choke right out and she idles like a dream, just got a bottom end knock so new engine on the way, i think its just a SJ thing, they dont like being woke up! haha...

Re: Starting/ warming up
You may be right about being woken up, but my Sammy always starts even if left for long periods without use because I have another car (for best) and a motorcycle for heavy holiday traffic journeys. (I live in Torquay) I have taken the car to the local garage twice for this problem, they say they make an adjustment and it bahaves for a few days then the fault returns to mock me. I am considering taking the sammy to a specialised engine tuner to get it sorted.
Re: Starting/ warming up
Being spi it could be a fault in the electrics somewhere maybe? I'm not to clued up on the spi system it the service manual ca be found here

Re: Starting/ warming up
With fuel injection problems like that are almost always sensor issues.
There's three ways of doing things:
The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.

Re: Starting/ warming up
Guys , Jim has a single point injection samurai, it's a whole different animal and everything is electric not quite as simple as sj410s with carbs and manual chokes that you adjust yourself.
