With standard tyres/gearing they wont do too much more than 65-70 on the flat.

Its gets a bit crazy after that anyway! :D

I've been brave today. 60miles all motorway and dual carriage way. Held 55 most of the way.I was pleased with that, lol. Fuel consumption was too quick to measure. Overall it wasnt too bad, once i got onto the lanes and just took in gently on the right boot.

She's way underpowered on the bank now though with the 31s and 413 transfer box. I have things planned to sort that though. Was fine in 4L off road but in 2H on the tarmac it was poor!

Even on the 33s I cruise along between 50-65 depending how much of a rush I'm in  you should be able to bit 65-70 with a standard SJ though so maybe it needs a good tune up/service.

Dans right though once you hit 70+ it starts to get interesting, I've had 80 out of mine before and it's not been that fast ever since

The carb can make a big difference, my standard lwb would cruise at 70 and the only mod was Nikki carb, rubbish offroading uphills but great everywhere else,

my current KJA has a 1.6 with a standard carb, and that can easily do 75 not flat on the floor (think 95 on the gauge was the top speed on the flat)

All on private land of course :-)
