I went a bit mad on my zook (at the time i was a computer engineer/salesman)

Image

8" monitor with touchscreen and av inputs, hooked up to a laptop in the glovebox.

on that PC i had a version of Multimap, I had a satnav program, I also had a 3g dongle and even at one point Digital TV. I was planning to get a night vision camera and mount it in the grill and run off the screen, but before i could do it i sold the zook.

now though, a £80 tablet would do all i need, and as i have an android phone can make it a mobile hotspot to access the web, load everything on like maps and videos, and the best bit, is that i can remove it when i am done so no one will want to nick it.

I really wish i had more space in the KJA as i would love to do a good stereo install, maybe oneday i will work something out.

with regards to your Iphone and making it a hotspot, i think that will only work direct to a mac/ipad, unless it is jail broken when it does the same thing as my android device does, be careful though as most phone companies charge extra for Tethering and you could rack up a large bill before you know it

i like it! :rockin: i get unlimited internet so thats no worry, also my dad might be gettign an upgrade so hopefully ill get his iphone 4 which has wifi hotspot so will work as a wifi router, im thinking of moulding my satnav into the dash but so it is removable, so that no one will break in the nick anything, also getting a rearview camera and looking at a way to fit a car pc for a good price, i was looking at doing an xbox 360, but i really dont want to use an inverter, xbox 360's run on 12v but draw too much power for the batteries to handle, and i could risk killing an xbox 360, the only way i can see me doing it is a android pc or car pc, which are very expensive....

I would check with your provider first about the unlimited data thing, i dont know how but they know when you use a pc through your phone, class it as tethering and send you a nice fat bill, well at least that is what my company would do if i ever had reception to use it (not going to name names, but lets just say, it is a number, and i think it is the worst number in the phone network)

Revovable nav is a good plan, could make a cradle for it in the dash

yep im thinking of making it just slot into the dash, looks perminent and tidy but is removable so no-one can rob it...

I'm with them and they seem to be good, ive tethered my laptop to my phone before and it was fine, a bit slow though, but they didnt charge me any extra for anything i get what they call "all you can eat data" im hoping to get a iphone 4 as the 3g connection is quicker, but im not sure if it is becuase my dads on contract that his 3g connection is quicker? or the fact his iphone 4 is quicker?

i might just put a dvd player in there and a freeview and done with it, i cannot be bothered with trying to make an xbox 360 run on 12v without the inverter, all too camplicated lol..

Xbox 360
PS3
PS2
Old Xbox

all work on it, so the idea is to get an android tv box, and a 3g router, which will hopefully work with my iphone..

the android box i want to get has wifi, and has Freeview TV, internet browser, youtube, netflix etc... so this will be cool to have in my zuk, also runs on 12v and then all i need is a car tv antenna...

also have windows CE on my gps system...

It would be nice to have a bigger screen to be honest, but overall I'm happy with my setup!
Got the phone "free" on contract anyway, car mount was £20, audio cable to stereo was one I had lying around... BARGAIN :)
