Re: Anyone SE London based need little cash?
im in Dunstable but if you cover my fuel id like to help if I can. it would be a sunday tho as I have loads to do on my truck. welding may be a bit of a faff with the time scale. would it be best to get the MOT station to patch it?

Re: Anyone SE London based need little cash?
Andrew - covering fuel costs would be fine by me. Are you sure though? That's at least 3 hours of driving both ways!!!
Also - yes, the rear bumper is standard, the sami blanks would probably be appreciated (may as well go with the Landy side indicators though), Sami arches wouldn't be wide enough (I have plastic strips for arches that I just need to screw in) and the exhaust - I have a new centre pipe that just needs bolting up, but the back section is missing. I have one from another car that I can "persuade" to fit, I just need to cut it down and weld in the flared bit so it will bolt onto the centre piece I bought.
As for welding, don't worry about that - I haven't had a *proper* look, but a cursory inspection didn't reveal anything that needed welding. And I can weld it up myself if it's not too bad - I'd just need to borrow Scottie's MIG welder - mine doesn't work so well on thin metal. His is some crazy awesome computerised thing that actually analyses the metal as you weld and adjusts to the workpiece for you - it's actually difficult to *deliberately* blow holes through things with that magical thing! I know - I've tried!!!
The rear door might need welding, actually - but we'll see. And as I say, I'll just get scottie's ȕber-mig out for that if needs be. As long as you can see the work (Scottie has a hard time with MIG - not bright enough, he can never see the work) that thing is difficult to b4lls up with.
Everybody: who's available on the 28th? I'd probably put on a chicken tikka masala for lunch and a bbq for the evening, if a few people dropped by to help!

Yea I don't mind. Its what cars are made for. Fuel costs probably about £45 if I pop down in the sami
28th sounds good to me. If you can sort the brake calipers out
Could bleed the system too.
Post up a picture of the lights with some dimensions and
Ill fab up some mounting plates at work For you
Think I have a rear section kicking around somewhere to.

At this rate, I'll have more people working on the truck than I'll have problems to sort out...twiss wrote:I'd come give you a hand on the 28th... assuming I can get my bits and pieces done by then!

But sure! We can just turn it into an unofficial SCUK London BBQ if too many turn up!
Don't worry about the welder though, I have access to 3 of 'em (a MIG, an ARC, and a really fancy MIG that also does ARC and TIG and cost 7x as much as my SJ).
Cool. I was just going to cut it out with my angry grinder. I'll take photos and measure up at some point, but it should be identical to every other SJ/sammy.andyrew wrote:Yea I don't mind. Its what cars are made for. Fuel costs probably about £45 if I pop down in the sami

Yup, just going to blank off the standard lights and mount the D90 ones. I thought about even just spraypainting the standard lenses black, drilling holes and screwing the D90 lights into that. Not sure that's gonna be very hardy, though.ROBBIE wrote:Are you putting landy lights in the rear bumper? If yes I think I got some ally checker plate that I used to have in mine.
