I just re-read all the original post. Are you only changing the rear tyres? Or all 4?
If you ever use 4wd you want the same size tyres all round, if you only ever use it in 2wd on road it's not that important, 225s will be a tiny bit smaller and narrower than original though, such a small difference I doubt it will really matter though.

Re: 235 and 225
hi buddy thanks for the reply,as the fronts are good 225s and rear are worn 235s and unless we have deep snow 4wd will not be used so cheaper for me to buy 2 x 225s ratter that 4 x 235s is what i was thinking

Welcome to the forum.
If it's a road only vehicle, I wouldn't think that going smaller tyres would be the end of the world, although you may find that it uses a bit more fuel on motorway journeys, although it may tow marginally better (if you're looking to do that).
Personally I like bigger tyres, but I'm an offroad fan.

Re: 235 and 225
Have just booked my LWB Vitara in tomorrow morning for 4 new road biased tyres for £63 each corner which i thought was not a bad deal, dont do much off road so hence going down the normal tyre route but these are el-cheapo tyres anyway but do have good treads. My original plan was road biased ones on the front and slightly more AT on the back but finally chose the 235/65/R16 road tyre route instead.

Re: 235 and 225
Hope i am not highjacking this thread, but in my earlier post i mentioned about have all 4 tyres the same but these are more road biased tyres, would i gain anything by just adding 2 of these tyres to the front to give me car like steering but changing the backones to a more heavier tread pattern ???
I dont do much off road, just basically need the 4x4 ability just incase i cannot get off a field after say its rained that type of thing,as yet not had any problems but i am trying to see if any benifits can be gained by doing this combination rather than just the 4 roadtyres i will admit these are more like van truck patterns than say a road going car so possibly they would give me the best of both worlds like a AT tyre would give me but without the cost.
Any suggestions on this one please, apart from having one sill welded about 4 months ago my Vitara has not cost me anything apart from £20 a week in petrol, its been a very cheap vehicle to run plus also i am a tight arse as well.

Re: 235 and 225
Had all my tyres changed over for the new ones and all of the same make, must admit it does transform the trucks handling very well and well pleased with the result, they are more of a van type tyre so could be seen as a semi AT type. And for £63 per corner pleased over all but i had to lay down in a darkened room after shelling out all that money, think it must be the fact i have Scottish blood running through my veins.
