Just blew up wife's discovery!

Post by Sj410red » Wed Sep 11, 2013 6:10 pm

So I was just joining a dualcarriageway when I heard a rattle and a knock, pulled over in lay hand got out and saw a trail of oil and a growing puddle of oil emerging from under the car, after the usual cursing of landrover reliability, rang breakdown, got recovered home. Started to inspect to determine problem, big hole in crankcase was culprit and half a Conrod which fell out on drive! So it's knackerd, apart from the thing wont die, it still runs! but does clank a bit as the other half of conrod makes an appearance at the new inspection hole lol....plus side now tho, 1 less useless Landy on road, downside she wants it fixed! I said put sj lump in, that didn't go down so well, so it's a big spend on it now!

Never good! I'm sure you could pick up a second hand lump cheap enough for it.

I've already sourced a 69k engine gearbox, as hers sounds like bag of nails, a transfer box and all engine ancillaries, but it's a hefty price tag at 875!, but the cars was worth 4k, so I got no choice!

Wow, best part of a thou, just for a powerplant and gearbox. That's steep.

Tell me bout it, all others are high mileage lumps and ther still asking 500 plus for engine alone, this is a low 1 tho, I paid less than that for my sj 2 years ago, which was taxed n tested and excellent runner!

I swear my Mum must have bought the only half decent Discovery TDi in the world. She did over a hundred thousand miles in it and when she sold it, for £1200, it had over a quarter million on the clock. The guy who bought it apparently wanted it for the engine too. :screwy:
