btw my Haynes manual says to remove the wheel nut with a hammer & chisel

Mine says (in section 8.3) use a hammer and chisel to bend the locking tabs back (figure 22.7a), then use a socket to remove the actual nut (figure 22.7b).

It's annoying though, as the instructions are pretty poor. The instructions on replacing the kingpins aren't clear *at all*, and it says nothing about having to press the outer races out of the hub.

I did find this linkydink which seems to give more complete info on replacing the front wheel bearings, although still nothing about the kingpins...

The suzukiclubuk.co.uk guide is more informative and more useful in the real world, I think. I'll let you know for sure once I've actually found time/energy to actually do the work!

Do what I did and throw your Haynes in the paper recycling, you never know that way it might actually get turned into something useful?

You can also view and download most of the SJ service manuals here, they actually tell you how to do everything properly.

I think that's a good idea about the Haynes manual Scottie as Anton says the instructions are pretty dire........I've managed to find a few vids on youtube plus various guides, problem I've got now is the internet connection I need to watch them on the laptop is in the house and the SJ is in a barn up the track hmmm :er:

I have 2 of the useless things. About all I can see them as being good for is listing torque specs.
Top! Much better! I may print those out, laminate them, and put them in a folder. Or something.

Meantime, I'll download onto my phone's ebook reader. Nice one Scottie! :salute:
