Roll cage

Post by b3n16 » Fri Nov 22, 2013 8:16 pm

Right then guys. Is there anyone on here who enjoys welding and would be up for looking into roll cages with me for a Vitara. I have never welded but would make a good bitch and help as much as I could and there would obviously be money involved. Preferably near Northampton but I would travel if needed :). Many thanks ben.

Too far away but check my Vitara build thread as the roll cage will be finished soon. Might give you some ideas.

How do u guys bend the metal I have just purchased a Clarke 12tone hydrollic pipe bender and I would like to make a cage for mine I plan to take loads of time doing it as I won't get insurance for a min if I do put it on so it won't be put on for a good 1-1.5 years time as I already have heavey duty bumpers so its just rock sliders to do and then make it bolt on

Also what's the best pipe to use diameter e.g mild steel or stronger

Also dobu put sand on the pipe aswell

You will defo need sand in the pipe.... best way ive found is weld a cap over one end, then fill (and I mean really, really fill.... pack it down a lot!) with sand... then weld a cap over the other end...

then bend it... should reduce crushing
