Twin washer jets on 413 bonnet?

Post by Jay18 » Sat Nov 30, 2013 2:19 pm

I've been looking at the washer jets that go on the bonnet, only thing is, does anyone know if they are the right angle to squirt the screen?

If no one know then no problem they're only £6 for the pair lol....

They should be adjustable so don't see why not.

Short answer: No.

Long answer: They'll be at completely the wrong angle. They're designed to go on a sloped car bonnet so that they point up more and at a windscreen that slopes backwards. You need the shallow angle to get the proper spread across the screen, hence why on an SJ the washer jet is on the screen surround instead. Even if you can get the angle on them to hit the screen, it'll be a small area that gets squirted, rather than a streak.

You could just fit them to the bonnet as lights and not use the washers.

The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.

If they're adjustable then as you say yes they should but it doesn't say adjustable :/

And that's a good point ed, but mine done make a streak, the drivers side dribbles onto the screen and the passenger side shoots off to the side, doesn't even make contact with the scene lol...

Mine does this . Seems to stagnate and block up.

Pop the old one off and give it a good clean.

I popped mine off and whipped my balls out (ohhh err!)

Using a tiny self tapping screw. Screw in into the jet hole
Till it bitses and yank the ball out. Then clean the housing
Out. I drilled the jet holes a tad bigger so a little extra water
Gets on the screen.

I also put a airline on the hose to clear it out.

You can adjust the standard washer jets too. Get yourself a little sewing needle, pin or whatever, just something that'll fit down the jet and allow you to adjust where it points without breaking off. All you need to do it stick the 'thing' into the end of the jet, give it a gentle pull in the direction you want it to point, try it to see what it's doing, repeat until satisfied.
