16v thats lost its spark. Help request
The vit im breaking up to pinch the engine from has
Lost its spark. It was a woman's daily then sat up for a year
It was started regular but then one day won't fire up.
I don't really know these engines/vits so any help is greatly appreciated
Before I go checking for volts everywhere
Anyone recommend any components to check?
I also can't hear a fuel pump running from the tank. Can you hear them on vits?
Cheers dudes
Andy

Re: 16v thats lost its spark
Guess we should have discussed this earlier!
I can't hear my fuel pump so I'll say no to that question.
Other than that it's the usual suspects.
Get the multi meter out and have a poke around.

Re: 16v thats lost its spark
If there's no spark, I'd work backwards from the plugs.
There's three ways of doing things:
The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.

Had a check for you, when I put in the ignition key and turn it so the idiot lights come on there is a slight whirr sound...guess that's the fuel pump!
If it ticks over...leave it

hmm id say what Edd has said, Start from the plugs and work backwards. could be just as simple as a fuse!

Ditch that, they can be very unreliable as most are getting quite old now.andyrew wrote: There's a crappy looking alarm fitted so o will whip that out

Re: 16v thats lost its spark
Hmmm looking for ideas if anyone can help me
Checked all fuses visually and tested the big main ones
Charged battery
Removed aftermarket alarm
Checked connectors
No noises from fuel pump and no spark
Dead ecu?
