A few questions

Post by Baloo » Sun Jan 10, 2010 10:33 am

Hello
I have only just registered but spend all day yesterday trawling through the DIY section on the homepage
I don't have a SJ yet but we, the family want a 4x4 and it got to be affordable as we already have a family car
I have a few questions regarding the road legality of some of the moderations.
I'm wondering if a bodylift, the rocksliders and the bedford rascal spring conversion are going to pass a MOT.
Scrambling through the dirt will be an occasional thing i'm going to do by myself so whatever the mods are going to be has to be within reason and most importantly not stop the car from being road legal.
I know its boring but save headaches from her indoors

Yes if done well, no reason why it wont pass an MOT.

Just make sure your modifications (what ever they are) are declared with your insurance company.

Welcome by the way.

baloo..... i dont suppose you posted on difflock a few years a go and had a zil131? looking at your question I doubt your the same fella, like henery said if you carry out the modifications correctly there is no reaon why it should not pass an mot, the only real grey area is if you modify the chassis and as the sills are not stressed members rock slider sills will be just a bodywork alteration, so no problem just declare it to your insurance company
