Snorkel Help.

Guys I'm looking at fitting a snorkel on my SJ, I recently got hold of a rigid plastic safari snorkel but this cant be fitted on my truck as the arches have been fitted to high up.

So I'm looking at buying a 1m length of 80mm silicone tube, a 90degree metal bend and a K&N style snorkel top.

My question is what do i do when I'm in the engine bay, shall i remove the standard filter and the hot air feed and go straight on to the carb. is so how to i go about going from the 80mm metal bend to the 210mm oval intake on the carb?

I personally would not plumb it straight onto the engine i would still use the airbox. Because trouble is with K & N is that there not design to be put on a off roader as they let alot more finer particles in ie dust and crud in the air. Also in the rain there not brilliant.

Yeah something like that is fine. what i meant is like you dont want a k and n on bit of tube open to all the elements.

I agree with Tom, keep the normal filter but put a "rain hat" on the top of you snorkel. You will need to seal up all the other normal bits in the Suzuki air filter plumbing to make it watertight.

You could get something like eBay item 111230586983 it's a bit cheaper, or just search eBay for tractor air filter, there's lots of them.

Ive got a tractor pre cleaner one on mine does the job perfectly.

the pipe between the standard airbox and carb is split on mine so i need to replace this to go down this route.

ive done mine slightly different.
got a length of metal pipe (cant remember if its stainless or like zinc plated), and got it bent up onto shape.

I've used the original air box and sealed it up and just plumbed it it straight into the box.

the snorkel top is bent toward the rear of the truck to avoid leaves and crud etc getting sucked in.

Guy what sort of diameter pipe have you used for you snorkel? Around 50mm 2" the same as the intake on the airfilter feed?

test
