Fuel return on SU and electric pump

Post by Jordi » Fri Jan 31, 2014 6:04 am

The carb engines have a fuel return on the pump my electric pump doesn't.

Is it worth running a return from the carb over flow back to the tank?

Saves pumping fuel onto the floor if the float ever sticks or can't hold the pressure.

I thought facet pumps are self regulating and therefore didn't need a fuel return pipe :er: :er:
I also thought a SU overflow pipe just hang down, out the way, you could also see if it was overflowing :er: :er:

I just guessed it won't matter if it goes back to the tank. My overflow just goes to the floor.

When i tried it on mine - it would not run right, especialy just after filling up, used to cut out and not start right pull the overflow off and it was happy.

Same here. I've just got a long hose down to the chassis where it's held in place with one of those cable wrap things my SJ seems to have all over the place.
There's three ways of doing things:

The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.
