Hi there guys, said that I was buying an SJ and today I have bitten the bullet and gone for it.
Here are some pictures, I am getting it delivered to me in a few days, having to take it to an MOT shop to get all its bits and pieces sorted out, hopefully all will be good.
Anyway let me know what you think. Good or bad??

looks pretty tidy, I'd wait till you get and check the 'regular' rust spots before you decide how good nick its in, but generally the body looks straight and it comes with the removable hard top which is always a bonus,
Only point I would make is those front shackles, you can see them on the photo's leaning to one side, I think they will be 2" or3" lifted and can damage your springs, I would suggest you replace them with original items to get more life out of your springs and to make your steering better,

Like luke said get the shackles of ASAP.
Get an mot, then drive it for a few months, change what your not happy with, keep the good bits and end up with a smashing little truck that suits your needs

I mean I have already been to see and stuff, its just that i could not drive it away then due to no mot tax etc so the guy is dropping it this week. It is in pretty good nick, few little rust spots and few dents, but that stuff can easily be sorted out. Removable top is sweet too, however the seals are balls on it and I need to get hold of some new ones. Yeh I thought that same about the shackles, they seem shit and look like they are making the leafs over bend. What can I put in their place, as if I was to drop it, the tyres would not fit. Tyres are amazing too, few knobbles have a bit of wear probs from sharp rocks etc, but otherwise its well good.
Inside is a bit of a shit hole, but a quick jet wash and some tlc will sort it out a treat. I cant wait to get my hands on it and do it up. Guy said that he has put a new SU carb on it, fuel filter system, new rad and clutch which is all good.
I mean it defs needs some work doing to it, but I think its going to be good fun.

Replace them with standard shackles.

Spring
Inside.. personally id rip the old seats out, as they are not comfy, and either get some buckets, or big slobb seats!

ok so normal shackles as in regular size? I thought that the shackle lifts where very common??
Also the lad was saying that he had a mer steering it on it, what the hell is that.?
Well I probs wont have it for a while. Need to send off my v62 to get the new documents, if they refuse my request then ill have to sell it as it will be useless for me for on roading.
Ill put up some more pics when i get a chance so I can get some opinions on the other parts. Just nice to know what people think I should do with what i have got etc.

yeah standard sj shackles. you can probably pick some up on ebay or from a scrapper.
shackle lifts are common but they are a very cheap way of lifting your vehicle but not the best way because they limit your approach angle!
id recommend a SPOA - Spring Over Axle lift. search around on google and these forums to look how its done and the costs.
Merc steering conversion is a popular mod on an sj with a suspension lift. the merc conversion is the best way to do it! otherwise you have to use a Z bar for the steering arm.
