Hey up guys and gals!

Post by Foxbuster216 » Fri Apr 18, 2014 8:19 pm

Hi everyone,

Newbie to 4 wheel suzies, mid thirties offshore mechanic that has bought a 93 model vitara fatboy (Spanish model) for a bit of a shooting wagon :guns: , but the more I look at her the more I think she still has that old school cool about her!

Bought her for little money, chassis is solid-surprise,surprise! But as she's been stood for couple of years I know she'll need some hours spent giving her some tlc.

I'm lucky enough to have a pit and and all tools/welding gear I need-better keep the brother in law sweet :D

Basically I'm joining this site as I know I'll have many a scratching the head moments that need your expertise.

Cheers guys, be prepared for someone who is looking for advice etc, I'll try and get some pics up ASAP.

Cheers guys, much appreciated.

My first job is to clean up chassis and make sure all is how it should be and then protect her (thinking hammerite? What do you guys recommend?)

Then secondly strip and service brakes with new lines etc

Where are the best places in your opinions to get parts/spares for her?

Once again-cheers, you'll probably get pee'd off after a while with me after all my questions/pestering!

Welcome. I get most parts from the local motor factors, odd bits like trim I get from the local dealer. For the chassis I would recommend Hammerite with waxoyl.

Always worth asking in the wanted section for bits and pieces. And hello!

Sounds like you have a good plan and skills to do it.

As for "modern" Hammerite, I think it more like Hammershite!!

It doesn't stick to anything.

Do you mean 'normal' Hammerite or the underseal?
