Front diff is done in!!

Post by Hodgie812 » Sat Apr 26, 2014 3:06 pm

Well it happened we got stuck (bogged down on the chassis) and guess what, tore the diff from its bolts trying to get unstuck. Anyway question is, what splines do i count to make sure I am getting the correct replacement? The input splines on the diff pinion or the out put splines for the cv joints?

P.S anyone got any spares out there they are willing to post?

The splines that are important are those that go into the diff, the splines that go into the hub never changed. Time for a steel front axle maybe?

Yeh would love to convert to live axle but haven't got the time to do it. Already got tons of half finished jobs on the truck. Just keeping it simple for now.

Rhinoman just meant the steel version of the IFS axle... much stronger and more hard wearing than the chocolate one you've just broken ;)

Yeh I was guessing that, but would love live axle on coil springs. Got lucky today, my local scrappy has a GV td in, £50 for steel diff and both shafts!!!! :doublethumbs: :doublethumbs: :doublethumbs:

Don't tell your scrappy that they're probably worth £100+...

I've seen steel vit diffs go for £250 - on facebook!?!

Yes you can but you will still need to set the preload correctly
