CB radio...... yes this is a question...
hey again.
ok. my santana has a CB radio fitted.... (not by me)
first up, whats the legality of having it in my anus?
secondly.. i have no idea how to use one.
thirdly; it doesnt have an ariel or a connector for the back of it in order for it to recieve a signal from an ariel.
oh well, if not i will sell it.

Hi Russ
By law, you dont need a licence in the UK for a CB radio anymore so use it as much as you want
Basically, a standard UK CB has 40 channels. If you know someone else with a CB you can talk to each other by using the mic, take it in turns to talk. the range of the CB depends on the ariel you have (there are a couple of other factors too but tryin to keep it basic).
There should be some sort of ariel connector usually at the back, a big round one. Do you have any pics of the back cos its not something easy to miss so im curious about that one!
CBs can be great if on convoys or on days out playing in mud, specially if you get stuck and need help. A lot of people say they'd just use their phone to call for help but thats only good if you have someones number to call, at least you could broadcast for help on a CB and other people might be listening! I had one in my old mini that a rarely used to talk on but found it funny sometimes to listen to other peoples conversations, its usually a group of mates having a laugh etc
Stick in on channel 19 when you sort the aerial out
Keep it!

cheers mic.
i will get a pic of it up asap, as its mounted so that the back of it is exposed.
im guessing from the pic you can determine which one and what type of ariel and connector it requires.
cheers again

thats a standard CB aerial socket, every aerial cable should have one of the opposite bits on the end. stick the pin in the middle and screw on tight

ebay. maplins sell them if you have one local.... also depends on what type you want you can get one with a fitting kit to have periminantly on the car
like this, drill a hole somewhere in the roof/bonnet or whereever
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Flat-Surface-Moun ... 3caab6bd67
or a mag mount which you can take on and off the car whenever you arnt using it, but maybe not ideal if you have a cloth roof
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-MINI-MAG-COMP ... 45ee70cb78
for longer range of the CB, a bigger aerial is required
