Chassis paint? I've just bought a tin of black and a tin of green so I can paint the floor and chassis black and my suspension components green...

I made my own carpets in my old SJ out of black heavy duty carpet, and used waterproof carpet underlay as sound proofing, worked a treat! Kept it nice a toasty inside in the winter and just made it feel a lot nicer to be in...

What did you do with the gearbox tunnel? I am guessing you didn't carpet over that?

Yup I carpetted over the transmition tunnel, used 3 pieces of carotene and made each side of the turn bel carpet come up ion to so that the gear surrounds held the side pieces and top piece in place

I made the foot well carpets removable so I could clean the mud off them...

I am thinking now I might buy some insulation felt and rubber mat on a sheet and cut it to fit... If I bitumen the floor to protect it, does it smell bad? I need to use the SJ quite soon after doing it.
