Temp warning light

Post by PhilD » Thu Aug 14, 2014 11:32 am

I've had this 53 plate GV 2.0TD for a few weeks now and three times I've had the temp warning light come on fliker and go off , the temp gauge is constant at about just under half way up the white section. Last night I also saw the AC indicator lamp flashing when the AC was off any suggestions.

I may be wrong, but I think they have two coolant temperature sensors... one for the gauge and one for the engine control unit.
Not sure which one controls the dash warning light, but if the ECU's CTS isn't working correctly it might give that symptom

Coolant Temperature Sensor, the ECU sensor doesn't usually have anything to do with the dash gauge. The dash gauge is heavily damped though so its possible that a dodgy connection could trigger the light before the gauge responds.

Looks like it is the coolant temp sensors its showing a fault on the diagnostic at cold it shows 168 f then goes back to normal so will replace this week and hopefully that's that sorted.
