Just to clarify Jordi, which way round does the clutch go in? I can never remember and wouldnt want the ridicule of getting it wrong....

The flatter side of the clutch faces the flywheel... as it doesn't really fit the other way around ;)

Ok, done the swap, i had to remove a bracket on the exhaustpipe and after that the gearbox went enough backwards so that i managed to swap the clutch disc and reinstall the clutch pakage back with a aligment tool.

If i`d been slightly wiser i`d would have drained the gearbox beforehand, the slipyoke fell off as i was removing the gearbox and started to drip oil on me :pissed:

Trick is to tilt it forwards so it can't leak out!

I agree you on that, had the cars front tires on blocks and the rear tires on ground
Never the less, a valuable lesson was learned

When me and andyrew took a vitara engine out, I ended up covered in coolant and he ended up covered in transmission fluid!
The coolant sounds like the preferred option but he didn't have to drive 100+ miles home covered in it ;)

(with an engine and gearbox wobbling about in the back i might add)
