Thinking about it mine only has a backplate and you have to have a spanner on the nut and the head.
Some models have a separate retainer plate which also stops the bolts from turning.

I'm going to suggest bolting the wheel back on leaving the four centre nuts off. Supporting the wheel some way or another, then using a large drift and a good hammer on the end of the shaft. Just with the tyre on the floor and someone holding it upright should be sufficient as it shouldn't be that tight. (famous last words)

Right then, not the drum at all but the backplate.
If your careful with the grinder I reckon you could just cut the square out of the backplate that you need

I've edited the last post as I don't like the look of those retainers. They are not stepped like the original backplate. Does this mean when there fitted their is a gap between the axle casing end and the retainer plate?????
Probably ok on a Spanish model with a backplate and a separate retainer plate maybe ?, but not on a Jap model.
Anybody fitted these Muddyzook plates ??

Having said that, they may be designed to be used with the Muddyzook rear disk conversion plate only, as this would act as a spacer.........

Did you manage to cut the square out of the backplate with it still on the axle ??

I took the shaft out and placed on the bench then cut the back plate, Wont be using them again now. just working out the best way to put the brake pipes then it'll all be put together.
Has anyone on here welded angle iron onto the axle then run the pipes through that?
As thats what I was looking at doing.
