Re: Anton's build
Finally got the fog light working today. And the number plate light. That's all the lights working. Rear brakes in, just need to weld on flexi brake pipe brackets, plumb in the brakes, bleed them, then I just have to fit the new exhaust, and sort out that rot on the right rear pillar, by the door hinge.
So a few hours of work left, then MOT - Friday.
I'll probably fail on something I missed, but then at least I have an official todo list.
After that, I may have to get some greenlane trips sorted for SE England members - I'll be in Worthing fairly regularly, so maybe Molehill/Twiss/Turbo-tom/whoever else is around could meet up for a trip?

Ha ha, glad you got the lights all sorted bud.
The hard work is paying off and it'll be well worth it when you get that MOT. I think i should get my first MOT framed.

Ladaman - yes, that's how I'm going about things for the moment.
Jordi - yeah, it's going to be a monument, this first MOT.
I may have it carved in a stone tablet - after all it's taken to get here!
I say we pack a BBQ and stop somewhere nice for burgers!

Remind me after the MOT is done, and we'll arrange something with Twiss and Molehill, and anyone else in the SE who's interested.turbo-tom wrote:A few outings sounds good to me buddy.

Re: Anton's build
There's some great lanes in the Chertsey/Ockham area, from a mild tootle to a black Cresta run. Flipped the SJ once going down there, how we laughed...well everyone else did...
If it ticks over...leave it

Re: Anton's build
Ok, definitely enough interest to arrange something - I'm thinking a greenlane day/weekend, maybe with a trip to a pnp site built into the weekend.

Re: Anton's build
Fitted the new exhaust today:
Then welded on the brake pipe brackets and got everything installed. Needed a new union, so went to a local factors and got one for the princely sum of £1.
That's actually the side with the old one...
Anyhew, just need to get a clip on one side and then fill/bleed.
Also, realised that I forgot to finish off the ends of the bullbar:
So I cleaned up the welds a bit, welded on new "ends" for the bumper part, ground everything nice and smooth, and painted that badboy:
So tomorrow I just have to find the brake pipe clips, install one, then bleed the brakes. And I'm then ready for the MOT!!!
I think I may have to pressure wash the underside of the truck, though - it's covered in baked on mud (that my eyes are now full of - thankyouverymuch Mr. New Exhaust...)
Anyhow, I *think* it's ready for the MOT. I could spend the time replacing the shock bushes (I have a kit sitting waiting to go on), but I'll do that if I find time *after* the brakes work...
Stuff still to do (not for the MOT, but for me):

Stuff still to do (not for the MOT, but for me):
- Fit the new shock bushes
- Strip and paint the steel/alloy rims
- Paint the whole SJ
- Sort out the diff breathers
- Search for sharp bits on the car (there's a rust spot or two) and use filler to make 'em smooth
- Fit the new 410 T-case
- Fit the new diffs
