Re: Jordis shagging wagon
When I collected it I suspected it had been repaired in the past. As unloved as it looked the repairs previously done seem quite good, someone has even gone to the extent of replacing the rear wings with pattern panels.
Fingers crossed no nasty surprises lurking under the grime. (got my optimistic head on today)

Might not be as much hassle as i thought them. Although once a spare 33 and fuel tank are in the back won't leave much space, lol.turbo-tom wrote:Yeah it is 3mm ali through out with 2 baffles in it.Jordi wrote:Alloy aftermarket tank?

Possible false floor with.the fuel tank and spare underneath.
Just want to get home, go weigh all my scrap in and get Mr Angry out!

Re: Jordis shagging wagon
The weekend is getting closer! Mr Angry is primed and ready!
I've just watched ferris' build video on YouTube (again) may try and do something similar. Not sure if I'm that tech savvy anymore.
Been thinking through the week and I'm gonna cut the arches out to the top of the indented line for more clearance. I'd like to lose the bump stop extensions for more articulation. If I can gain 50mm more it'll be 40mm more than the current wings would allow.
Once I start the cutting I'll update it in my main build thread. The anticipation is once again killing me. Hoping for a.reasonable finish tomorrow to get it stripped down a bit more.
Engine, t/box, fuel tank and dash to remove. Windows out, front clip off, roll cage off. All to do. Then pick it up and move it onto the pressure wash for some close up cleaning.

Re: Jordis shagging wagon
Had 4 hours at it this afternoon.
Anyone repaired the windscreen surround?
More investigation to do yet. I do have a spare soft top windscreen surround I could cut the section out of to repair it.

Re: Jordis shagging wagon
I had to repair the surround on my old 410, did it with the windscreen in situ, I sanded away till there was clean metal and filled it. Lasted about 8 years until I sold it.
If it ticks over...leave it

Another 3 hours
All the oily bits are stripped off bar the axles. Interior is removed except the dash.
It's covered in some kind of thick gungy oily stuff inside. May need to give it a soak in something. All the oily bits are stripped off bar the axles. Interior is removed except the dash.

Re: Jordis shagging wagon
Quite pleased with how quickly I'm getting this stripped down. Dash and loom are the last major things to remove.
The loom has been well and truly messed with so that be removed with wire cutters. Dash is messy to say the least.
I didn't get around to chopping out the rust at the weekend, got a couple of bags of rubbish to bin and found £6.27 in change under the seats.
Some of the panels have mild surface rust so a plan to flat them off and just coat them in cheap rattle can primer has been devised.
The front clip and bonnet don't seem too bad either, probably just store those as spares.
I do need to go get some sheet steel though!

My SJ wasn't really worth saving. I did it anyway (for the learning experience, plus it was part of the family by then).
I love how you take SJ's others would break for bits, and make them well again.
