Re: sj 413 unusual project
got a bit of an update on the project.
got the z bar for the steering made up and fitted the new waterpump so its no longer dumping all its water out.
we have also removed the old body

and now you will see what this project is going to be and why it is unusual

its not sat right in these pictures and still needs quite a lot of alterations before i will be happy with the way its sitting.
floorpan/bulkhead being cut out

lifting the body into place

transmission tunnel/bulkhead cut out in place

and how its sitting now

still need to drop the body shell down about 100mm before i will be happy with how it sits on the chassis but the project is well under way now

Not too unusual. Saw one years ago at truckfest. Zuk chassis, mini top, 3.5 V8 inside. I'll try and dig the photos out.

Re: sj 413 unusual project
unusual doesnt mean unique
there is actually a website dedicated to 4x4 classic minis on suzuki chassis but it not a normal thing to do.
and yes half the engine is in the footwells

Re: sj 413 unusual project
Scottie from HPOC's son had a 410 with a mini body on it. Scottie helped him work on it, although I don't think they did the actual body swap, just bought it as an unfinished project, got it going, MOT'd it and sold it on.
Anyhow, definately a project I'll be watching.
BTW - what're you doing with the old body?

Re: sj 413 unusual project
I'm going to be putting my SJ back on the road, and once it's through the MOT, I want to try to get a Jago Geep body to fit.
I would like to make a GRP replica of an SJ floorpan and bond that with the Geep body. That way the body should become a (more or less) bolt on replacement.
Obviously there will be need of a 6 point cage so I don't die as much in a crash/roll, but that's my plan for a rebody.
If you lived closer, I might have been tempted to buy the floorpan off ya, just to make a mould without having to remove my body.
Anyhow, superb work thusfar, gonna be awesome!

It's not a question of how much you spend on your suzuki, but when your money will run out
