I think 1.6 and 1.3 heads are interchangeable, if they have the same number of valves (a 16v head won't fit a 8v block, I *think*).

So your 1.6 head might be useable - but if it is, I don't know what differences it'll make to compression etc.

It *might* be a desireable swap...

They are interchangeable and people seem to say either are better.

When I've had it pressure tested, I'll make my mind up on what to do. Kinda a little bit hoping it is cracked so I have an excuse to fit a 1.6

I have Dans old 1.3 head here if you want it?

The only difference between the 8V heads is that the 1.6 has slightly bigger valves and a different cam duration.

I'll have to wait and see what state mines in. If it is cracked I'll be in touch.

My SU arrived yesterday. Picked up a bargain, found out they're really expencive when advertised for sj's and really cheap when advertised for mini's. Mine came with an air filter and mg metro gti manifold. Just have to decided what engin i'm going for and get the manifold adapted.

Surely get a 1.6 manifold regardless. Increased flow if you use it on the 1.3 and still always have it if you upgrade to a 1.6.

Finally back on track, just paid for a 1.6 8v (G16A) from a '99 with 54,000 miles, also spoken to richard about an su manifold and I've ordered the gearbox adapter and a low pressure fuel pump.
Anything I've forgotten?

I'm off to Cornwall for a week tomorrow so it should all be waiting for me when I get back, hopefully orderin this on friday 13th wont be bad luck

Almost ready for the old engine to be removed, all the fluids have been drained and most of the cables and pipes removed. The new clutch should arrive tomorrow, and the manifold will be sent off to rockwatt tomorrow too.
