I like Beetles (which were designed by a Brit, not by Hitler) almost as much as I like mini's (real ones, not beemerminis).
If this wasn't such a weird project, then perhaps it wouldn't be putting you off so much!

Didn't know Dr Ferdinand Porsche was British! And the Mini was designed by an Italian lol.
Started priming the bugger and ran out of warmth and paint. Sigh. Will carry on tomorrow!

Close, Alec issigonis was a Greek born Ottoman which is modern day Turkey.
Dr Porche was born Austrian-Hungarian and later became a German citizen
Care of Wikipedia, could be wrong but sounds as if it should be right.

I'm not sure if I got the British connection right, but from what I've been reading lately, it was designed by a Jewish fellow called Joseph Ganz (I thought he was British born, I may be wrong) and Hitler had Ferdenand Porsche credited for the work, for obvious reasons.
I did read that in the daily mail though...

Yes, but in my defence, it was the mail online - I don't read the mail (or any rabbit hutch lining crap that passes for a newspaper these days) and didn't really notice it was the mail until I went back to have another look.
I'll be more careful next time...

Finally finished the rear end, getting the exhaust cut outs to look right took bloody ages but I'm chuffed with it!

One side done...and half the roof, need to turn the thing around and do the other side. I can taste victory...

If it doesn't sell, find a decent 4x4 with the same wheelbase, and do a rebody job. That would make a brilliant pickup truck...
