Green Laning: March 20th 2014

Post by mmac78 » Thu Mar 20, 2014 5:45 pm

Hi guys,

few pics taken today as myself and my friend went out to do some green lanes around East Sussex, the ones pictured are Old Coach Road, Folkington to Jevington Road (Polegate) and Landport Road.

All legal Byways, as always I make double sure they are posted correctly. Good laugh and some quite deeply rutted tracks around :)

Old Coach Road is fantastic, but you can string a few along... Before you reach the Old Coach Road there is a small little Byway at the bottom of Firle Beacon. You can follow that along, then cross over to the Old Coach Road and then follow it all the way down to Alfriston. Great little track, then from there you've got Common Lane near Berwick. Robin Post Lane is another one not far from Common Lane and then Folkington Lane which finishes in Jevington.
And to finish off, on the way back swing by Landport Road :)
When I take people out for a run, I normally string them together... and makes a good afternoon's driving.

I think we need to organise an SCUK South East laning trip, because that sounds top quality!

thanks guys :)

yeah there are also a few that are currently closed for repairs too so once they are sorted will add another few places to add to the list. Unfortunately the one that ran from Beddingham down to near enough Firle Beacon has finally been taken off the OS map after there was trouble with the Farmer taking down the red byway posts. I know he's caused a few people trouble in the past and he even put his own sign up at the end of the track stating it was for 'farm traffic only'.

One lane lost, but two more that I know will be open by the Summer is the entire Common Lane and Vert Wood :)

Had a trip out to Robin Post Lane the other evening, and it's been TRO'd - should be reopened in the Summer :(
