It appears the camshaft runs directly in the head ...no replaceable shells so if worn a new head is needed......is this not very unusual ???????

I'm sure someone here will have needed to fit a new/reprofiled camshaft at some point, it must be possible without a head change surely? My Haynes manual explains how to remove and refit, but no reference to new bearing shells, does this mean the shells are cast into the ali head?! Sorry I'm new to this motor but keen to know more as I'll be in there at some stage for sure.
