Green Lanes around Derbyshire 10th May 2014

Post by Ladaman » Sun May 11, 2014 9:48 pm

A nice day out. We met up in a crakin' cafe in Buxton, then following a GPX file I found somewhere on the web.

I went with Craven in the Vitara, and a guy we've not met before in the GV. I think this was his first laning trip in the GV, but has been before on motorbikes. He missed a couple of the hard ones out (Hollins Clough) as it is his daily drive, and he couldn't concentrate over the wife's screaming

We came across one lane in Bamford, where a local told us to not bother trying as a tree was blocking it. No, the locals had obviously tried to block it with some cut branches. So we removed them. :thefinger:

Then we had a minor incident with the ball joint lift bracket on the rear axle of the Vitara. It broke! Luckily he had a spare, so we repaired it.

The best sort.

I had been helping not just holding the spare wheel cover on, as in the pic. :D

We got it finished just before it lashed it down. :doublethumbs:

Was just thinking the same Scottie. Every time I see something that's not a load of clay ruts or Salisbury plain chalk I get jealous. Probably sounds a bit silly to you lot where we have so much to drive but its all very samey.

You are all more than welcome.

I'm finding more and more lanes now, so should be able to put a good weekend route together before too long.

I will have to "score" lanes I do so as to put a nice mixture together without too much road milage.
