IT SOLD!

Post by donkeychomp » Sun Jun 08, 2014 12:03 am

My friend finally sold the sodding rust bug...this is how it looks now, being used as a promotional vehicle by some berk.

He lost £1000 btw. It owed him 3k, sold it for 2.

Chuffing Beetles. They were shit when they were new.

At least it's gone bud. Shame he lost money on it, could've been worse. It could have been your money.

I am about to buy a 1965 Beetle. I haven't seen it yet but I am willing to bet a big pile of cash it has loads and loads less rust and rot than my 1991 Sammy I sold last year. Old VWs do rot but SJs rot sooo much better

Another thing...can't quite work out why...but rusty Beetles are labelled 'outlaw' or 'rat-look' and suddenly they are worth as much as a fully restored bug

My last Samurai was defo 'rat-look' but it was still worth no more than the value of fuel in the tank!!

Long live classic VWs

The Rat-look is about controlled rust. The intention is to make something look like it's been sat in a scrap yard for years whilst still being road legal and fairly quick. It's basically the euro-fags version of American Rat-rods.

Anton, it went a long time ago but it has taken my mate an age to get rid of it, the bike is coming along nicely...and the Vit is about to get 31" boots!

As for the rust look, yes I've noticed that trend. Moronic I call it.

Does that mean it's going to be wrong for me to just matte laqeur my beetle? I'm calling it the "restoration that was abandoned 15 year ago look"

+more tube work!

I quite like old classics with a "rat look" but I bloody hate it on modern crap cars like polo's and fiestas etc. it looks shit.
