Towbar problems

Post by mc23 » Sun Aug 24, 2014 8:32 pm

Hello.

I'm looking for some advice. I have just fitted a towbar to my 56 plate Grand Vitara. The problems started straight away as it has previously had a towbar fitted so all the boltholes in the chasis were rusted to hell. Anyway with a lot of swearing and WD40 the towbar is on. Unfrortunatlely the outside bolts on each side of the main triangular bracket are not fitted. One was tightening up nicely until its just gone slack, so the thread must have gone. And the other I cant even get started. So I'm thinking, take off the rear bumper and put a longer bolt with a nut on it through the one that won't tighten and hopefully with the extra room I will be able to get the opposite bolt in on the other side. Any suggestions or ideas would be welcome???

Thanks.
