Hi,folks! just in the process of buying a '2005 Grand Vitara Sport' just a quick question......the dealer said it has a 8v engine (it certainly is not a dohc).....but all relevant spec. states that it is 16v?can anyone give confirmation? maybe it's a sohc (it has a timing belt)?
Also anyone got info on the 4wd system, are the vacuum hubs like the Jimny??
Cheers,Mick

Welcome to :suzuki: club UK

Tbh I think I would steer clear of the dealer doesn't even know what he's selling

It will be a 16v sohc engine.

Most GVs have a freewheeling system in the front diff that is air operated.

Don't use 4wd on tarmac though.

Looking at the page on the 4wd system ,got me wondering ...is the air pump vulnerable to damage from water (wading up to 2ft deep etc.)? or are the electrics well sealed?
Cheers,Mick

Not sure what you mean by air pump, I use that on my bike, but 2ft of water is no bother. I would get diff breathers put on though.

I *think* the vacuum comes from the same place the brake master cylinder gets it's vacuum - that is to say, the engine itself, via the intake manifold. So there's no pump.

Could very easily be wrong though.

There is a pump up behind the front bumper.
I've not seen people playing in deep water in the GV's yet so can't say if there are any known problems.
