Fuel and temp guage

Post by Mdw » Sun Dec 28, 2014 8:10 pm

I gave a sj413 and both the fuel and temp gauge are not working.
What common problem could this be?
Or is it likely to be separate problems?
Thanks

I would have a guess at a bad earth somewhere... Check the body earth wire that goes from the bulkhead to the battery negative terminal

Temp gauge is earthed thru the sensor, I imagine fuel sensor is earthed in the boot somewhere (mine has no rear wiring loom at all since I've had it). Temp sensor wire is probably broken or terminal has broken off the sensor is common too. I replaced my sensor and rewired it too my amazement the dash gauge still goes, fuel could be a similar problem if the top of the tank is prone to rusting depending how the wires are attached..again I dont have the original tank so cant comment on that one
